Why Tumut needs a Local Energy Hub
I am writing in response to recent discussions about regional development and energy infrastructure in Tumut. While we proudly host significant projects such as the Snowy Hydro 2.0, it's clear that our local community is not fully benefiting from these developments – a situation akin to being "in the shadow of the lighthouse."
Despite being at the heart of major energy generation infrastructure, our region faces significant gaps in local energy resilience and emergency preparedness. Upcoming projects like the MEC development, while promising, still lack comprehensive plans for local emergency energy independence.
It’s clear to me that our community needs a local energy hub – a shopfront that community members can visit, staffed by local experts who can provide trusted information and advice on how to concern about our habitation sustainable development.
