Letters to the Editor: Why the South Coast (Shoalhaven, Eurobodalla and Bega Valley) needs a Local Energy Hub!

Kathryn Maxwell, President of the Southcoast Health and Sustainability Alliance (SHASA), has penned a great piece on the need for a Local Energy Hub on the NSW South Coast. 

 

Why the South Coast (Shoalhaven, Eurobodalla and Bega Valley) needs a Local Energy Hub!

It’s clear to me that our community needs a Local Energy Hub on the South Coast – a shopfront and on line website that community members can visit, staffed by local experts who can:

  • provide trusted information and advice on helping households to reduce cost of living pressures by upgrading the energy efficiency of their homes, and
  • financial and technical support to community energy groups to develop business cases so that they can secure available funding for community batteries and community solar farms.

Local community energy group, SHASA have tried unsuccessfully for nearly a decade, to see community scale renewables set up in the Eurobodalla. The South Coast would really benefit from a Local Energy Hub.
