'Energy hubs here to help' in Latrobe Valley Express

Local Energy Hubs have been pointed to as a key solution in addressing misinformation in the regions around renewable energy, at a presentation to a Senate Inquiry.

A South Gippsland beef and sheep farmer and wind turbine host, Lindsay Marriott, appeared as a witness at the Senate Committee on Information Integrity on Climate Change and Energy public hearing in Sydney.

The wind farm on Lindsay's property has been in operation for more than 10 years, and he spoke about the campaigns that ran against his wind farm during the planning process, some of the claims that were made and what the reality is of his experience – often "opposite to the majority of talk".

Lindsay was invited to address the hearing by the Renewable Energy Alliance. RE-Alliance’s National Director, Andrew Bray, told the committee: “When there is an information void, we see it filled, time and time again, by false and exaggerated claims. This is why our submission recommends the federal government establish a network of Local Energy Information Hubs in renewable energy regions across the country."
