Australia is in the midst of a shift to renewable energy that will cut pollution and secure us a reliable energy future. Rural and regional Australians know that the shift to renewable energy can bring once-in-a-generation opportunities to our communities.
But the shift needs to happen with us, not to us. Without somewhere to go where we can ask questions and get support to do this, we’re seeing a rise in dangerous misinformation, and confusion about what renewable energy can deliver for regional communities.
That's why we're calling for Local Energy Hubs, a network of 50 regional outreach centres that would provide information and support to help communities navigate the energy shift - from home electrification to large-scale renewables - delivered by trusted, local people.
Time is of the essence, so we’re asking the Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen to commit to funding Local Energy Hubs in the upcoming Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) - or “mini-budget”.
We have secured a meeting with Chris Bowen on the 3rd of December, to press the case. But we are more powerful when he knows we speak on your behalf.
Help us by sending a message to Minister Bowen to ensure our plan is considered for funding in MYEFO.
